Daydreaming...

Some people think of their future home and dream of extravagantly large walk-in closets or jacuzzi tubs.

I dream of a place where the sound of little feet running across the wood floor can be heard. A place where I can read Green Eggs and Ham and The Foot Book to small children who look a little something like the man I love. {You.} I don't dream of a specific square-footage or number of bedrooms. I don't dream of a place at all.

I dream of the people who will make wherever we're at home.

Always,

When I think about the future, my future at least, not much is certain, but I always picture myself, wherever I am, outside, sitting on a patio somewhere reading a book. {Although I doubt I will look as near as glamorous as the woman in this photo. But I'm okay with that.}

What about you, lovelies? How do you picture the you that will someday come to be?

To the wonderful man who I will grow old with,

True Love In Pictures | Tiffany True Love{via}

It’s moments like this, with the sunroof open and the breeze whipping through my hair, in the company of truly lovely friendship, that I am content. Content that I am where I am, right at the very moment I find myself in.

I can’t wait to meet you, I really can’t, but before we start the rest of our lives together, can I just enjoy the freedom that comes with not knowing where life is going? This time of uncertainty, beautiful uncertainty?

I used to be a girl, waiting for her prince charming to come to the rescue, but I'm not that girl anymore. You don't have to rescue me. I'm happy, wonderfully and genuinely happy now, right where I’m at. And while I would love some company to revel in the joy of being content with all that God has given me, I can wait.

Now, a year into my college experience, I realize that it would not have been right for me to meet you some time ago, when I wanted to oh so terribly. I wasn't ready. I've grown so much in the past year, hell in the last six months, it's unbelievable. Someday, on a lunch date or something of the like, I’m sure I’ll tell you about it all.

For now though, I'm learning, slowly but surely, how to be patient. {Emphasis on the slowly.} God grant me patience as I do my best to figure out this life I've been given, without you here to help guide my plans.

But, whether it's a day, week, year, or years before we meet, know this:
Even at this very moment, wherever you are on this crazy journey we call life,
I love you.

Always,
L.A.

To change the world

 Change the world {via}

Yesterday while playing "The Ungame" for the first time ever, I was faced with a very powerful question: What is your greatest fear?

One of the girls I was playing with said she was afraid of dying young.

My greatest fear though, is not dying young, although that, without a doubt, is a tragedy.

My greatest fear is that I will die without really living. That I will check out of this life God has given me without having done anything of significance. In my "About me" I say something about wanting to change the world for the better. That is just as true now as it ever was. No matter what career path I'm contemplating at the moment.

I do want to change the world. All of it. Part of it. Some of it.
And all for the better.

Even if it's just one person's world, just one person's life whose a little bit better after meeting me.

In the end, that's what I want.

If I do that, I succeed. I fight the lies that the world feeds us, that one voice will never be enough, and I win the dreamer's victory.

And to die without accomplishing this? That is my greatest fear.

Always,
L.A.

Daydreams & silly things

I have dreams of somehow making a living simply by reading, writing, and traveling the world. Do you think I could do that? Get paid to do things I'd love to do anyways?

Hmm. Maybe.

As I've said before, a girl can dream, can't she?

A dedication to my someday someone

This song.  Oh. my.  How accurately captures the mood I'm in today.  The lyrics echo my own thoughts so well I want to copy and paste every last one of them here for you to see.  In fact I think I will.

I dedicate this song to my someday someone.  The man whose hands were meant to hold mine.  In the words of the Civil Wars:

Why are you so far from me?

In my arms is where you are to be
How long will you make me wait?
I don't know how much more I can take
I missed you but I haven't met you
Oh but I want to
How I do
Slowly counting down the days
Till I finally know your name
The way your hand feels round my waist
The way you laugh, the way your kisses taste
I missed you but I haven't met you
Oh but I want to
How I do
How I do
I've missed you but I haven't met you
Oh how I miss you but I haven't met you
Oh but I want to
Oh how I want to
Dear whoever you might be
I'm still waiting patiently

Like the song says: "Dear whoever you might be, I'm still waiting patiently."

Love Always,
L.A.

Wanderlust

Today I've done a bit of looking in to studying abroad.  Europe is oh so enticing.  I even google-mapped out all the adventures I dream of going on.  A fourteen hour car ride would be more than worth a trip to Italy.  Besides, long car rides make the best memories.

Who wants to travel the world with me? Where shall we go?

There's so much beauty out there. Let's experience it all.

Always,
L.A.

Dancing and Dishes

Dear man who will never be too cool to hold my hand,

I hope that you will also never be too sophisticated to dance and sing with me while doing dishes.

Because dishes are a dreaded task. But with song and dance, no matter how goofy or terrible one may look or sound when singing or dancing, dishes are fun. And although you don't know it yet, you someday will learn that I love to have fun.

The way I see it, life's too short to be bored.

Love always,
me

Put it on my someday shopping list

Yep.  That's me.

Not really a clue in the world as to what I want to do with my life,
but what I do know who I want to be. And that woman I want to be someday?
That woman shall be remarkable.

I'm far from a material person, but when I think of this woman I want to become,
certain possessions often come to mind.

The woman I will someday be shall own:

-A beautiful bicycle to keep me honest

-A polaroid camera to fight the perfectionist in me

-A passport that will allow me to travel the world

-A grand piano so I will never stop learning
(I've always wanted to learn to play piano.)
-A typewriter for when I feel like doing things the old fashioned way

-An iphone for when I don't

But alas how important are things? There are more valuable things in life.
This I realize.

But hey, a girl can dream.

Always,
L.A.

some saturday morning...

If I'm not where I want to be, living a blissfully happy life in five years,
this is exactly what I'm going to do.

If you could buy a ticket to anywhere in the world,
where would it be?
Personally, I think New York sounds rather lovely.

Late night musings

Someday I'm going to see the world.  Maybe not today, or this month, or even this year, but someday I'm going to quench my thirst for travel.  I guess that's what George Bailey said in It's a Wonderful Life too though, and look where he ended up.  Well, actually I suppose he didn't make out too bad for himself, lack of frequent flier miles and all.

Always,
L.A.
